The four stages of information handling
Briarwicket processes information through a consistent sequence. Understanding this sequence helps users know what to expect at each point of interaction.
Information enters the system from authorised sources and is queued for classification. At this stage it is not yet visible in the user interface.
The AI-assisted classification layer assigns each item to a category, attaches relevant labels, and resolves any structural inconsistencies before the item enters the review environment.
Once classified, the item appears in the relevant section of the interface. Users with access to that category can navigate to it and examine its content in detail.
Interactions with content — such as opening, filtering, or flagging an item — are logged within the session. This allows the interface to maintain a consistent view during the user's session.
What each function makes possible
The following functions represent the primary capabilities Briarwicket makes available to users with access to the service.
Structured categorisation of available content
The classification tool examines each item of content that enters the system and assigns it to the most appropriate category based on its structure and subject matter. Users can see which category an item has been assigned to and, where relevant, suggest a reclassification through the enquiry process.
- Category assignment based on content structure
- Label attachment for secondary attributes
- Conflict resolution for ambiguously structured items
- Support for user-initiated reclassification requests
A navigable space for examining classified content
The review environment is the primary part of the interface that users interact with. It presents classified content in a consistent visual layout and allows users to move between categories, apply contextual filters, and examine individual items in detail. The layout adapts to the type of content being reviewed without requiring users to switch tools.
- Category navigation via the primary interface layer
- Contextual filters for narrowing displayed content
- Detail view for individual items
- Consistent layout across all content categories
Structured observations from the classified content set
Where the classification layer holds sufficient information across a category, the observation layer can surface patterns and groupings that may be relevant to the user. These are presented as structured observations rather than conclusions. Users can examine the basis for each observation and decide how to interpret it in their own context.
- Pattern identification within classified categories
- Presentation of groupings and frequencies
- Source references so users can verify what informed the observation
- Clear distinction between an observation and a verified fact
A direct channel for questions and access requests
Users who have questions about the service, or who wish to request access to a category not currently visible in their interface, can submit a structured enquiry. The support layer routes enquiries to the appropriate team and provides a reference for follow-up. Response times are not fixed, and access to a given category is not guaranteed as a result of an enquiry.
- Structured enquiry submission form
- Routing to the relevant support team
- Reference provided on submission for follow-up
- Optional clarification request from the team
